Everything You Could Want In A Shade Tree

The London Planetree Bloodgood is the perfect shade tree for nearly everyone. From its adaptability to every landscape to its ornamental features, this tree has it all. Whether you want a strong shade tree for your open landscape or you're looking for a tree that can survive your polluted city air, this tree is the tree for you.

Its popularity comes from its resilience. During the Industrial Revolution in London when the air was thick with smog and toxins, most trees couldn't survive. Astoundingly, the London Planetree Bloodgood stood out with its vitality. Vibrant green leaves penetrated the murky landscape and soot literally rolled off the impenetrable bark. You can be confident that if this tree can survive the worst pollution in history, it will thrive in your yard.

You don't have to do any work at all to keep this tree strong. There are many strong trees that have stood the test of time, but plenty of them require constant upkeep. From pruning, to fertilization and constant water management, it can be a chore to keep some trees thriving. Not the London Planetree. After you plant it, there's hardly anything you'll ever have to do. This is one of the easiest trees you'll ever care for.

Forget about diseases and pests. With the advantage of having a grand shade tree in your yard, often comes the disadvantage of monitoring for diseases and pests. The London Planetree is very disease and pest resistant, plus it's deer tolerant. You won't need to constantly inspect the bark or leaves to make sure it's doing well.

Not only is it an incredibly durable tree, it's gorgeous. Very similar to a sycamore in appearance, the London Planetree offers vibrant, large green leaves that can be up to 10" wide. In the fall, after the leaves turn yellow and drop, they present the classic and nostalgic crisping sound.

Even in the dead of winter, this tree is a beauty. The molting feature of the bark, with its distinct colors make this tree the perfect specimen for your wintery landscape. When the red-brown bark flakes off, it reveals creamy white, green and yellow colors beneath. You will love the contrast and interest that the bark brings to your yard during every season.

Standing tall at 70-85 ft. at maturity, this shade tree will certainly do its job. Imagine summer afternoon picnics under the shade of this gorgeous tree. The branches grow in an interesting columnar shape that rounds out as it matures, providing the perfect canopy for cooling down on warm days.

If you want an incredibly strong shade tree that's easy to manage, then you need the London Planetree Bloodgood. You'll get ornamental value all throughout the year in a tree that will stand up through drought and heavy pollution. Everyone wants a durable and easy tree, so don't wait to get yours. Order a tree that will last a lifetime, today.

Planting & Care

Planting Instructions: The London Plantree Bloodgood is easy to plant in your yard. Find a sunny spot in your yard that leaves enough space for your tree to go. You'll want to avoid sidewalks, powerlines and other tall trees. Plant in full sun or partial shade where it will receive at least 4 hours of sun each day. Adding mulch to the base of your tree will help keep the moisture in and prevent weeds and grass competition. You don't need to add anything to your soil when planting.

Watering: This tree can tolerate wet or dry conditions. Be sure to water the tree weekly in its young life to ensure proper growth. If it rains, you don't need to water your London Planetree Bloodgood at all. After a couple years, you only need to water the tree during very dry summer months.

Pruning: You don't need to prune the London Planetree Bloodgood, but it can be helpful to remove dead bark and branches in the fall.
